What we collect, where it goes, and what we do not do with it.

You type something into a form, it reaches us by email, and we reply. We do not sell it, rent it or trade it. This site sets no cookies and runs no advertising trackers. That is the whole arrangement — the rest of this page is the detail.
The booking form on every page asks for your name and phone number, which are required because they are how we answer you. Everything else is optional: event date, headcount, town, whether you want pickup or delivery, what you need, and a free-text message.
The form also sends one thing you did not type: which page you submitted it from, so we know what you were reading. There is a hidden field that real people never see and never fill in; anything that arrives with it filled in is treated as a bot. The booking form does not ask for your email address.
The entry form at /giveaway.html asks for your name, email address, phone number and town — all four are required, because we need them to run the drawing and tell you the outcome. Optionally you can name the person who told you about it, and tick a box saying you follow our Facebook page.
An entry is stored with the time you entered, a referral code if you arrived on somebody's share link, and the IP address the entry came from. The IP address is there so we can spot one person entering fifty times, and nothing else. Ticking the consent box is how you agree to the official rules.
Booking enquiries are emailed to office@hitchandhostmn.com. That email contains everything you typed. Nothing else receives it.
Giveaway entries are saved in a private store held by our host so the draw has something to draw from, and you are sent one confirmation email with your share link.
Both also trigger a push notification to the owner's phone so a request is not sitting unseen. That notification deliberately carries no personal details — it says a town, a date and what was asked for, and nothing more. No name, no phone number, no email address, no message text. It travels over a public notification service, which is exactly why it is kept empty.
Submissions are also written to our host's server log, which only we can read.
Three companies handle it because they run the plumbing, and none of them are given it for their own use:
We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise hand your details to anybody else. No advertisers, no data brokers, no mailing-list resellers. If a court ever ordered us to produce something we would have to comply, and that has never happened.
This site sets no cookies. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no session tracking and no cross-site profiling. We cannot tell you how many people read this page, because nothing is counting.
In fairness: the page source contains a dormant placeholder for Google Analytics. It loads nothing, sets nothing and sends nothing while it holds a placeholder ID instead of a real one. If we ever switch it on, this page gets updated first.
Every page loads its typeface from Google Fonts. The service areas page additionally loads the Leaflet mapping library from unpkg.com and its map tiles from OpenStreetMap. Asking another company's server for a file tells that server your IP address and roughly what browser you are using — that is how the web works, and it is worth knowing. We send them nothing you typed.
If you send a booking enquiry we will contact you about it, because that is what you asked for. If you enter the giveaway you tick a box that also lets us contact you occasionally about rentals by email, phone or text; message and data rates may apply, and that consent is not a condition of entering or of renting anything. Reply STOP to any text, or unsubscribe from any email, and it stops.
Honestly: we have no automatic deletion schedule. Booking enquiries sit in the business email account. Giveaway entries sit in the entry store through the draw and the prize being claimed. If you want yours gone, ask and it is gone.
This is a business site for people renting party equipment, not a site for children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13. The giveaway is 18 and over. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.
Email office@hitchandhostmn.com and ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. There is no form and no process — it is a small family business, so you are emailing the people who would do it.
The whole site is served over HTTPS and browsers are instructed to refuse the unencrypted version. The giveaway entrant list is behind a token that only we hold. No system is perfect and we are not going to pretend otherwise, but there is very little here to take: no accounts, no passwords, no payment details. We never take a card number through this website.
